Beyond the Usual Favourites: Wego Reveals Kuwait's Emerging August Destinations

Kuwait City, Kuwait – 13 August 2026: Wego, the number one travel app and the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), shares its latest travel insights, highlighting the emerging destinations capturing the attention of Kuwaiti travellers this August.
While established summer favourites continue to attract strong interest, Wego search trends point to rising demand for a wider set of destinations, from Mediterranean city breaks to South Asian getaways. The shift reflects a growing appetite among Kuwaiti travellers to explore new options alongside their traditional holiday choices.
Emerging Destinations Gain Momentum
According to Wego search trends, several destinations are seeing notable growth in interest among Kuwaiti travellers ahead of the August travel period. Tunisia recorded a 54% increase in searches, followed by Sri Lanka at 30%, and Spain at 19% rise in travel searches compared to the same period last year.
Spain, in particular, is driven by stronger YoY interest in Madrid (+73%) and Malaga (+14%).
The growing popularity of these destinations reflects a broader shift in travel preferences, as Kuwaiti travellers increasingly look beyond traditional summer hotspots in search of diverse experiences and destinations that offer strong value alongside convenient air connectivity.
What's Driving the Shift?
Wego search trends suggest several factors are contributing to the growing interest in emerging destinations. A combination of variety, and accessibility continues to influence destination selection for August travel.
Value also remains an important consideration, with travellers seeking destinations that offer diverse experiences while making the most of their travel budgets. For many, exploring a new destination has become just as important as returning to familiar favourites.
Traditional Summer Destinations Continue to Perform Well
While emerging destinations are gaining momentum, Kuwait's long-standing summer favourites continue to generate strong search activity. Egypt, Türkiye, Thailand, and the United Kingdom remain among the most searched destinations for August, reflecting their continued appeal among families, couples, and leisure travellers.
The latest search trends suggest that travellers are increasingly balancing familiar destinations with new discoveries, creating a more diverse mix of travel choices during the peak summer season.
Booking Behaviour Reflects Summer Travel Priorities
Wego search data also highlights evolving booking behaviour among Kuwaiti travellers. The average booking window for August departures currently stands at about 31 days, while travellers are increasingly weighing value and variety in their summer plans, spreading demand across both established and emerging destinations..
Search demand remains strongest for departures during the first two weeks of August, as travellers plan holidays around the remaining weeks of the summer season.
Reflecting on the latest travel insights, Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said: "Kuwaiti travellers are showing an increasing interest in exploring destinations beyond the traditional summer favourites. Our latest search trends reflect a growing willingness to discover new places that combine accessibility, value, and memorable travel experiences. While established destinations continue to perform strongly, we're seeing travellers diversify their choices and seek destinations that offer something different, whether through unique landscapes, cultural experiences, or seasonal appeal."
As travel preferences continue to evolve, Wego search trends indicate that Kuwaiti travellers are becoming more adventurous in their destination choices. While familiar summer hotspots remain firmly on travellers' radar, emerging destinations are steadily gaining ground, reflecting a broader desire to explore new experiences while making the most of the summer travel season.
