Abu Dhabi, 25 June 2026 - The Economic Integration Committee convened under the chairmanship of H.E Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, with the participation of the Directors-General of local economic departments from across the country. The meeting reviewed the latest updates on market price monitoring and oversight mechanisms at retail outlets across the UAE, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure market stability and safeguard consumer rights.
The Committee discussed a number of topics aimed at bolstering the competitiveness of the business and investment environment, and developing mechanisms to enable national companies to expand into intellectual property activities, thereby reinforcing sustainable economic growth and strengthening the UAE’s regional and global economic competitiveness. The meeting also reviewed the report on the implementation of the recommendations from its previous meeting.
H.E. Bin Touq said: “Thanks to the wise leadership’s directives, the UAE continues to solidify its standing as a world-class hub for business and investment. It has adopted a forward-looking approach to developing its legislation and economic policies in line with international best practices, while remaining attuned to global shifts and enhancing its capacity to attract investment and foster an advanced legislative and economic environment.”
H.E. continued: “These developments have contributed to the growth and competitiveness of the national economy. Non-oil GDP grew by 6.8 per cent in 2025, and the UAE ranked 1st globally in the economic performance, while maintaining its regional lead for the 10th consecutive year, topping the economies of the Arab world, the Middle East, and North Africa, according to the IMD’s 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook issued by the World Competitiveness Center.”
H.E. the Minister of Economy and Tourism added: “The meeting is another step in addressing a range of topics and initiatives aimed at facilitating business and economic activities in the UAE, regulating monetary transactions between commercial enterprises, reinforcing financial compliance, and enhancing the national intellectual property framework.”
His Excellency indicated that the Committee’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE’s economic legislative environment are continuing, in support of the goals of the “We the UAE 2031” vision, which aspire to position the country first globally in developing proactive legislation for new economic sectors.
The Committee highlighted the vital role of the private sector in strengthening consumer protection, regulating commodity prices, and ensuring their stability. It also emphasised the need to sustain oversight efforts over traders and retail outlets in the period ahead, to help restore market balance and bring prices back to their normal levels.
The Committee explored ways to support the expansion of national companies, particularly that of approximately 9,500 firms enrolled in the National Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, into intellectual property activities, and to encourage them to transform their innovations and inventions into tangible economic assets that generate sustainable value and returns. It also looked at enhancing their access to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s AI-powered intellectual property services.
The meeting further addressed strengthening of coordination between federal and local authorities to support the governance of high-value monetary transactions between commercial entities in the UAE, thereby reinforcing financial compliance, preserving transactional fluidity across various sectors, and supporting transparency and financial discipline within the national business environment.
